I use filter bottles and jugs. They have the best quality that i’ve seen so far. I drank carbonated water for a very long time because i got addicted from the taste and it was very convenient except when buying it. Also bigger capacity(1.5L or 2L). Also i tried some bottles many years before buying something better but they were cheap thin garbage that smelled like plastics factory.
Price of bottles
18.9L containers aren’t the cheapest despite their size and recycilng bottles without plastic processing.
5L bottles at a grocery store are almost 2x cheaper per litre.
This is your ecology.
Why is that? You need to count the whole price.
- 5L bottles are shipped in trucks to each store and put in a few pallets in the store. You take it to your car.
- 18.9L containers are shipped to your home or business by a wagie on the lowest legal wage. Although it’s a cheap worker, it still increases the price for individual consumers. Officially they probably carry one bottle/container because of limits in some countries, but in reality you can either carry 2(around 40kg), or walk twice as fast. The returned containers also need to be checked for quality and cleaned in a special facility.
Of course filter jug is the cheapest besides tap water and most convenient. It’s also COVID lockdown-friendly.
I have a well but the surface water is contaminated and not suitable for drinking. It’s not even clear. Even if it would be good, boiling is more expensive than filtering tap water.
Sometimes i like to use sodastream (israel gas) LOL
