having rules
He stopped recording in 2023 when going to south-east europe, to go be an orthodox and follow his rules.
But then despite talking about privacy, he promotes a VPS and DNS registrar that ask you for personal information when creating an account. Only because he has a deal for referral URLs. Maybe some rules are more important than other.
I find it weird how much he applies his situation on everyone else. He says something along the lines that everyone should have a website, but then recommends these privacy invasive services, that are not a problem for him because he's a public figure, but wouldn't be normal for 99% of people.
First of all, domain names are mainly built for companies. Do you know how much it costs for something seemingly so simple? Around 10$ on most registrars for .org or similar. It's retarded.
You don't "own" the domain. You rent it. And you will be happy. You will be happier than with tor.
Almost like if DNS was made by world economic forum
Yes, i know it's like land, property is more like ownership but still has tax, but almost everyone needs land while DNS was simply made for companies and bigger sites, and not people.
Meanwhile, there is a way of fully owning your domain with tor or i2p, that is just for leet hackers and not for normies. This is stupid.
Peertube vs Odysee/LBRY
Peertube is similar to odysee if you understand both systems.
Peertube is more independent, and it's more proven to work with multiple whole independent instances more similar to youtube and fediverse, while odysee is more similar to bittorrent file sharing with a cryptocurrency frontend.
VPS isn't something special that can't be censored by the owner, the reason it is recommended for when censorship might happen is that there is money incentive and there are only a few types of VPS and every is compatible to another and can be quickly moved or replaced on free market.
While LBRY is a custom system that might suck when odysee company would stop running or start doing bad things, we don't know. It might be a waste of time and you can't immediately switch to a different VPS.
You can seed/host your content on LBRY additionally, so it's not even close to a youtube clone.
Well, you can say that odysee is worse just because newpipe doesn't support it, and it's such a good app.
And with fediverse, for example mastodon is more woke and pro-censorship than X. It doesn't matter that it's an open system, mastodon server uses so much resources that it's not realistic to host it on a VPS for personal needs. So you're better on X. And you're the healthiest without any social media anyway.
"I will be throwing away my computers"
"What is the computer that i should get that solves all of my problems"
Get a new or used desktop, nigga
Every single problem i heard from luke about new laptops is fixed by desktops.
I haven't heard a single person say to me that they don't like desktops. I'm a young đˇđēZđˇđē oomer and we're desktopchads, at least the people around me.
Also i hope he seeds torrents on that VPS, since he doesn't have the hardware to do it at home, and i know how slow the internet can be in countryside, so i understand that one.
You already know what i think about leechers.
If he doesn't, i will report it to santa so he knows to not come to that house lol.
Raspberry Pi
Raspberry Pi is a microcomputer that is as cheap as these 200$ used laptops and it's extensible and it probably doesn't have something like IME. Additionally uses much less power by itself. It's not all free software but it's good.Nothing personal
I didn't invent this because i didn't like him or something, i just see that he doesn't know anything about IT or electronic engineering so you might make a stupid decision because the unaboomer said so. I'm pretty sure it affected some people, even including me in the way that i was encouraged only to buy used laptops and i didn't knew about used desktops being popular back then.
There are literally people that prefer to buy a newer thinkpad just for the meme, than an older dell or toshiba that is pretty similar to old thinkpads.
I think many videos he did are nice, but there are also really stupid ones.
